Serenity Now For OSU ... GO BEAVS

Saturday was a great day to be an OSU BEAVER. I went over to my parents to watch the OSU game versus the CAL Golden Bears. We all had our hopes and dreams of beating CAL shattered over and over again due to our 4 turnovers. However, CAL turned over the ball 5 times leading to an OSU win 23-20. It was a great game of changing leads and changing emotions.

After the game Jeff, my brother in law and I decided to go see Serenity. I do believe that was a good movie. However, all the hype made it seem like a little bit of a let down at the time. Now that I think back, I am very glad to have seen it in the movie theater at my student discount price :-) . The special effects and sound were marvelously done and the movies plot of good versus imperialistic evil resembled something out of Star Wars. On the other hand, this was no Star Wars, but I believe there will be a sequel.

When the movie ended Jeff and I met up with our wives and my best friend’s beloved girlfriend, Alicia. We all went to the Rogue Brew Pub in North Plains and had a hoooooot of a good time. They had some country bumpkin live band that played some psychedelic old tunes. In the end, the food was great, the company was to die for and the Black Butte Porter was as good as ever.

Thanks for everyone who made that day a great day in the life of the THE MCHENRYS!!!

We are finally posting about our honeymoon trip

It has been 1 month since my last post. WOW that went really fast. Alot has happened in that short time. We had a great time in Mexico and I think I will share it with you all.

Day One - The dreaded plane trip.

The plane trip actually wasn't so bad. We started out with an early flight out of PDX to LA. We were seated next to the bathroom so that kinda sucked, but the flight was short. When we got to LA we decided to upgrade to first class. OMG... for someone who has never sat in first class and who just on a flight sitting next to the bathroom, this flight was awesome. They gave us drinks after drinks and gave us the best plane food I have ever eaten and the butter was in a shape of a star. How cool was that.

Anyways, we arrived at humid Puerto Vallarta around 4 and was in our hotel at 4:30. Down at the aqua bar by 5 and warmed up for the fiesta at 6. The fiesta was a great start to what turned out to be the best trip I have ever taken with my wife.

Day Two - Do I look RED... I think I am burning

The second day we spent most of the time playing by the pool drinking coco locos and cabanias while ordering room service for dinner. We were going to go to the very sheak restaurant downstairs, but I was so burned that pizzas seemed like a better idea.

Day Three - The Flea Market and Dinner

Day three consisted of a lovely breakfast, more time at the aqua bar and a 2 hour trip into the city. I love that taxi fairs are flat rates there. Anyways, we purchased some sunglasses and some other crap from the flea market and had a nice stroll on the boardwalk. We ended the day with dinner at the hotel's nicest restaurant.

Day Four - Swimming With The Dolphins

Day for was a crazy, but great day. We woke up early and order some room service breakfast. We got a cab to the dolphin place, only to be dropped off on the wrong side of the marina. After a nice 20 minute walk we finally arrived at the dolphin adventures. Cindy was so excited I could tell from the get go this was going to be expensive :-). Expensive in pictures I mean. We had a lady we met take pictures while we were the pools playing with the dolphins and riding them, but we couldn't take our water camera with us in the pool. This meant that we HAD to purchase all 7 pictures that the dolphin people took of us costing alot of money, but it was totally worth it. Cindy was so excited.

Day Five - The Lazy Day

The lazy day consisted of us ordering almost only room service all day. We watched like 3 movies and took plenty of naps. We stayed up late though to watch what turned out to be the coolest thunderstorm I have ever seen.

Day Six - Tennis and the Beach

Like the title of day six says, we played tennis and walked on the beach. We also ate a bunch of food, and swam in the pool alot.

It was a fun relaxing day. We were supposed to go on a huge trip on Friday, but the lady who we had to schedule the trip had left an hour early. So we were forced to decide to do the trip on Saturday, our "LAZY day before we go" or just not go on the l
ittle adventure.

We decided to be lazy. The best parts of the day were playing tennis together and walking on the beach at sunset.

Day Seven - We Have to Go Home & Loose 100 bucks in sunglasses at LAX

Day seven was basically our trip home. Two big things happened this day. The first was when we decided to get some Coney Island chili dogs at some bar at LAX. It was like 7 bucks, except they made my order twice so we ended up get 2 for 1. How Cool is that.

The second thing that happened this day was that somehow, all of my sunglasses except a really crapy pair got stolen or were left, or lost at LAX. My 7 day old brand new nikes (purchased at PDX on the way to Puerto Vallarta) and 3 pairs of fake Oakleys from Mexico are all missing. I think they dropped out of my backpack when I was pulling the extra sodas from the plane trip out to drink with our Coney Island chili dogs.

So basically LAX saved us 8 bucks in chili dogs, but cost me 100 bucks in sunglasses.

Lata all

Honeymoon here we come!

We are finally married. I am so happy that so many people were able to see Cindy and I become husband and wife. It still has not totally hit me that I am married. I mean, every now and then I feel this overwhelming sense of pride and joy that I was able to find my true love and was fortunate enough that she wanted to marry me. I think everything will hit me when the process of changing Cindy's last name is complete. I mean, just like that, another McHenry enters the clan.

Anyways, we are about to go on our honeymoon. I am both nervous and excited, kind of like the wedding :-). I mean, Mexico is a great place, but we are going during the T-storm season and weather forecasts are not so nice. My sister Megan just returned from her hurricane filled honeymoon trip to Mexico. They ended up having an ok time, but they had to switch hotels because their hotel was devastated by the hurricane Emily. I do not think that is going to happen to us.

Cindy is very excited that we get to go swim with the dolphins. If we get to only have one day of sunshine, I hope it is on the day we get to go swim with the dolphins. Cindy is looking forward to that day so much, I hope it all goes well.

But those dang geese tried to bite me.

Bowling is a Fun leisure Activity

Yesterday Nick called me and was wondering if we wanted to do something with his girlfriend and him. We were thrilled to get out of the house and have a little fun. We all decided to go the Cornelius Pass Roadhouse. The food was awesome and I never have complaints about the beer at a McMenamins.

After some nice Terminator Stout we decided to head off to Sunset Lanes. Last week at a safety fair they were handing out cards worth 1 free bowl at Sunset Lanes. I managed to grab about 20 of them. Free bowling here we come. In actuality the bowling wasn't free. We had to pay almost 3 dollars for shoes ** LAME **. Anyways, I started off bowling rather well. Nick however ended up bowling much better then the rest of us. He has bowling skillz.

Nick and I had so much fun that we decided to go back to Sunset Lanes (with our bowling shoes) for another 3 games. It was quarter mania so it would only cost us 7 bucks each. We got some beers and started bowling. When we finished, I noticed that we still had 1.5 pre-paid games each left. The old fart at the front desk had charged us for 4.5 games each instead of just 3. So we made him give us one more game for a quarter so we could play 5 good games. I bowled great this time. I won 3 out of 5 games bowling a high of almost 170 and even getting a Turkey (3 strikes in a row). Nick however, with his bowling skillz still managed to win the overall pin total.

What a great after work week this has started out to be. If work just was not such a boar this week would be great. I really wish I had decided to only work Monday and Tuesday like Cindy did.

Anyways, I need to sleep. Work starts at 7 am in the morning.

T Minus 5 days

Welp, only 5 days until our big day. I am starting to get very anxious. I think all of the little details are finally mostly done. I am so excited to finally get married. I mean 9 or 10 months of waiting, I hate waiting. Cindy has put in a lot of work on this and I am sure everything is going to be great.

Anyways, Cindy and I went out with my parents and my cousins Lori and her Husband Chris to this restaurant up in Raleigh Hills called Salvador Molly's. They have these "Great Ballz of Fire" made of cheese, habanero peppers, and breading. They are deep fried and if you can eat all 5 of them you get your picture on the wall. No one was up for the challenge, but Lori thought it would be fun to order them and have us all try them.

My mom thought the insides were very tasty, but the outsides were way too hot and spicy. I managed to get about 1 whole one down before the air hit my mouth and ever so awful burning began. Thank God for the guacamole, or I doubt I would have been able to taste the rest of my food. Even though everyone's mouths were burning, it seemed that everyone was able to try them and live to tell the tail.

However, later the next day those Great Ballz of Fire turned my stomach into mush and I haven't felt good all day. Needless to say, I love spicy food, but there comes a point when your body tells you that some things are not meant to be eaten. I think that appetizer is one of those things.

Happy Monday everyone,
